Where to keep your travel wallet safely?

2025-04-22

When traveling, it is important to keep your wallet safe. Here are some safe places and tips for placing your travel wallet:

1. Wallet next to your body

Chest pocket: Placing your wallet in the chest pocket of your clothes makes it easier to notice your wallet at any time and avoid theft.

Waist bag/hidden waist bag: Wearing a waist bag or a hidden waist bag hidden under clothing can hide your wallet close to your body and prevent thieves from easily accessing it.

Underwear pocket: Some travelers choose to place their wallet in a hidden pocket under their underwear, which is less likely to be discovered by thieves.

2. Messenger bag/anti-theft backpack

Anti-theft backpack: Use a backpack with anti-theft function, designed with hidden zippers and cut-resistant materials, to prevent your wallet from being easily stolen.

Messenger bag: Place your wallet in the inner pocket of a messenger bag and make sure the strap is always hung in front of your body instead of behind your back. This can prevent it from being accidentally stolen and is more convenient to access at any time.

3. Waist bag

Waist bags can be chosen for travel, especially those that can be hidden under clothing. Put your wallet in your waist bag and make sure the zipper of the waist bag faces the inside of your body to prevent others from taking it from the outside.

4. Hotel or accommodation safe

If you carry a large amount of cash or valuables, it is recommended to store them in the safe in the hotel room. When using the hotel safe, make sure that the password or key is not known to others.

5. Separate them

Keep cash and credit cards separate. For example, you can put cash in your pocket and bank cards in your wallet, or put them in different places. This can reduce the loss in case of loss or theft.

6. Avoid back pockets

It is not recommended to put your wallet in the back pocket of your pants, because this position is easy for pickpockets to take away, especially in crowded places.

7. Backpack internal security pocket

If you are using a backpack, choose a backpack with an inner security pocket, put your wallet in this inner pocket, and make sure the zipper or button can be securely closed.

8. Carry a passport bag with you

When traveling, use a passport bag to put important items such as passports, tickets, credit cards and cash in an anti-theft travel wallet, and make sure it is always in front of your body.

Summary: To ensure the safety of your wallet, try to keep it close to your body, avoid placing it in your back pocket or in an easily accessible place. Using an anti-theft backpack or concealed bag and keeping cash and cards separate can further reduce the risk of theft. If you are staying at a hotel, using the hotel safe to store valuables is also a safe option.
